How To Cook Brown Rice With An Induction Cooker
Induction cooking has become so popular that it has changed the way we cook everyday dishes. However, many people have trouble cooking brown rice in particular, since it can be more temperamental than white rice.
If you’re unsure of how to cook rice with an induction cooker, don’t worry! The only part where you have to take care when using an induction cooker is the temperature.
There are 3 methods you can easily cook rice on an induction:
1. Cooking rice in a pressure cooker on an induction
To cook rice in a pressure cooker on induction, there are a few things you need to take care of.
- Never preheat the pressure cooker. Main reason being that the cooker will heat up within seconds so it’s important to prep all your ingredients and drop them into the cooker within a few seconds of heating oil.
- Add salt according to taste. If you want the rice to be sticky and softer increase the water content.
- Never put the pressure cooker on the highest setting! This can burn the rice. Instead, put the lid on and bring the cooker to pressure using medium settings.
2. Cooking rice in a thick bottomed vessel on induction
When cooking rice in a vessel in induction, make sure to use a thick bottom. This way rice will not stick. Also, do not stir the rice while cooking as this will break the rice.
For rice to water ratio, you will need to measure by volume. For instance, for presoaked rice add 2:1 ratio of water to rice. Take note that water level should be 2 inches above the rice level
After 15 minutes check if the water has vapourised. If it’s still there increase the heat setting one number up.
